Lightroom 6 (standalone version) freezes at startupscreen

i have lr 6 standalone version on windows 8.1 computer
last saturday usual made backup @ closing lr.
sunday when started lr6 freezes @ startup page.
i shut down, did second start ... same result.

then, thought maybe latest backup corrupted, tried open previous backup > same result: freeze @ startup

 

looking on internet read .lockfiles (which should automatically removed shutting lr down)
there indeed .lockfiles. tracked them down using explorer , did remove them.
new startup > still freezes @ startupscreen

 

i moved catalogus , backup , preview files harddisc.
made new attempt open lr: still freezes! grrr.

 

what other opions can try work again?

! didn't install new plugins, didn't upgrade (there wasn't ;-) )
i hope has solution.

go device manager , disable graphics adapter there , make changes lightroom preferences.

 

open control panel

click on device manager

right click on graphics processor listed under display adapter.

click on disable.

 

open lightroom<< go preferences<< go performance tab << uncheck gpu

restart lightroom.

 

go device manager.

right click on graphics processor listed under display adapter.

click on enable.

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
