Can't select or enter text in hidden form field

if select 'visible' form fields i've created, can enter text them show light gray box.

 

if select 'hidden' or 'hidden printable' there no gray box, can't highlight, select or enter text of fields once pdf form saved.

 

this same whether or not save 'reader extended pdf' or not.

 

i'm using acrobat mac.

hidden fields intentionally cannot interacted user. i'm not user mean "they show light gray box", due setting border color or background color gray. or field highlighting might active, or may talking focus rectangle. if post screen capture, narrow down.
