Working with multi-channel sound in Audition

i'm struggling head round seems rather restrictive multi-channel workflow in adobe audition (cc2015). i'm producing multi-channel sound track film, in case end 5.1, i'll require stereo mixes. work in multi-channel formats other standard of 5.1 - produce compositions in 8-channels example.

audition seems allow master outputs set mono, stereo or 5.1, when creating new sequence. can't changed @ later point @ all. master outputs set 5.1, individual tracks in multitrack session have surround sound panners in place of stereo pan controls. because of this, seems me fiddly produce stereo mix project built in 5.1 - because use traditional stereo panners when mixing in stereo (of course, can assign sounds left , right speakers surround panner, surround panner doesn't have simplicity , ease of use of traditional panner stereo mixing, designed 5.1).

also have begun 5.1 mixes building timeline first in stereo, before later "extruding" stereo composition surround sound field.

going further issue, make use of both stereo panners , surround sound panners within same project, depending on want place sound in multichannel field , type of movements through space might required. seems me can work 1 or other in multitrack project, right?

the best compromise can find @ moment involves setting new sequences stereo master outputs, setting busses l, r, c, ls , rs (if wanting produce both stereo , 5.1 mixes). @ mix down stage believe can export each bus independently, that's 1 way of getting multichannel output (by exporting stems each bus channel) exported stereo multitrack project.

the setup of audition seems make these workflows stereo - multichannel - stereo difficult, , wondered had found ways of working around this? addressed in future updates of program? worked years in logic pro , kind of workflow achieved.

i don't know if if route output track stereo output rather 5.1 master panner turns standard stereo one.

also in surround panner can turn destination off clicking in c. ls , rs boxes letters turn white inxtead of blue. panner moves outputs across normal stereo field
