Extension Manager Mac OSX 10.11.1

i having problems extensions manager on mac osx 10.11.1 - fails install extension exchange error "please make sure manifest.xml valid..." new mac pro (the ice bucket mac =)  have been on phone support - had no ideas , sent me chat had answer same question 3 times , transferred chat in different department , wait more -- came here, should have done in first place. advice appreciated.
