Why do my pictures in Lightroom CC appear as gray shells in Library Tab, but display correctly in Develop Tab?

i upgraded imac , macbook pro el capitan yesterday. use external drive on imac store pictures , catalog. girlfriend same thing on macbook.

 

the macbook works fine her, no issues. imac not display pictures while in library tab of lightroom, shows gray squares file names, displays them fine in develop tab.

 

so hooked external drive macbook , had same result. must specific files, , not computer. sadly have no catalog backup. thought external drive backing in time machine excluded.

 

same result in both actual pictures on external drive, , when trying view them in collections. ideas? may coincidence happened day upgraded el capitan. or maybe not? help

it seems color profile monitor has gone bad.

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
