LR6 will not open

i purchased upgrade lr4 lr6 couple of months ago. yesterday, after 2 months of flawless function, unable open lr , continues today. there no messages, no warnings or questions, not opening. advice?

could please check if lightroom running in background in task manager/ activity monitor?

 

if yes, end background process or restart machine , then, try launch lightroom again.

if not, launch lightroom alt/option key pressed.

Error: 100600 Update failed, updates have been disabled by your system policy

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
