Can't select photos after import

i new lightroom, following several online tutorials. i've run problem can't find answer for: have imported few photos lr practice with, , trying apply metadata , set collect set collections. lr imported photos asked to, can not select 3 of them ~ (obviously) can't add metadata or assign them collections. thoughts?

are not able select image or specific set of 3 images?

may know workflow of adding images collections?

 

please me lightroom version , operating system type working on well.

Error: 100600 Update failed, updates have been disabled by your system policy

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
