combining paths with object

i have bunch of strokes need add shape. thought if converted paths objects can use add shape area. not working. help! i'm using cs3.1 moore.png

how selecting , ctrl/cmd+g group if wish have appearance shown?

 

you may select them , object>path>outline stroke, select , pathfinder>unite; remove parts inside rectangle looks same if ctrl/cmd+x+b move them behind rectangle, , fill latter.

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
