Exporting SD content with HD Titles?

not sure i'm doing wrong here, edited old footage 4:3 material, non hd.  movie going start off sd material, end current hd material.  did edit first half using 4:3 material, exported h264.  imported file new project contains hd footage.  way 4:3 material has black bars on sides before widening hd footage later.  worked fine except 1 problem.  titles in 4:3 edit bit blurry , faded compared titles i'm adding in hd version.

 

what doing wrong?  know can re-create titles while in hd project fix it, i'm wondering if easier way address this.

it sounds added titles on sd footage in sd sequence (720x480). exported clip , scaled hd (1920x1080). correct? if so, scaling sd footage softens everything, including titles.

 

if that's not case, , edited , exported sd footage in hd sequence, likeliest culprit file export settings. in either case, i'd recommend adding titles in master sequence only.
