I need to open and edit pdf files from sharepoint Online

i have sharepoint online (office 365) doc library pdf files.  users need able click on document , have open in acrobat same way docx files opens in word. need able check in , check out document, make edits, save server, , close file, same way works word.  i've done extensive research find out need edit docicon.xml file on sp server.  since i'm on sharepoint online, i'm not able that.   also, i've read internet explorer add on called "adobe acrobat sharepoint opendocuments component" needed make work.  don't have add on, , can't figure out how add it.

 

any appreciated.    i'm using acrobat xi pro, sharepoint online 2013, , ie 11

this supposed issue @ microsoft's end, recommend consult support team on microsoft updates.

as workaround if have internal service can create temporary directly create links 1 time use.

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
