grab tool not working. grab tool selected - can see hand but will not grab anything

i new photoshop , i'm working through tutorials on lynda.com learn as can i'm stuck @ minute. tutorials wants me use grab tool move image , no matter nothings moving. have selected tool , see selected , hand moves onto image there not grabbing, no selecting.

 

i have done using letter select grab tool. again works not grab anything.

 

any input problem appreciated. thank you

hi clara-beau,

 

hand tool comes in use when image zoomed in , want move specific part of image.

you need move image around mouse after zooming in once have hand tool selected.

 

are following same workflow steps or different?

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
