Data bloat in photoshop:DocumentAncestors XMP element

hi folks,

 

we have been experiencing issue xmp data in photoshop psd files getting massively bloated apparently-meaningless hexadecimal identifiers nested within <photoshop:documentancestors> element.

 

here's small sample file has more 5,000 lines of these meaningless identifiers:

this problematic because causes xmp write operations fail because of insufficient space in target file's xmp packet (especially when converting other file formats fixed-size headers, e.g. jpg.

 

i read somewhere these identifiers captured every time copy & paste operation performed on image -- it's hard believe more 5,000 operations occurred!

 

it's possible remove photoshop metadata file using exiftool gui -- that's not scalable solution!

 

does know causes xmp metadata bloating, or more importantly, how prevent it?

as far can tell, extreme xmp bloat tends go accumulation on time, e.g. when document reused again , again. have no specific experience photoshop envision when copying content other image has rich xmp data, such xmp data might travel copy&paste operation. couple of times, , 5000 of sudden doesn't big number anymore

 

i once received 50mb pdf file had 20mb (sic!) xmp data in it... (all through unfortunate chain of accumulation during numerous processing steps in overall workflow).

 

at same time have impression (but cannot prove it) worst around creative suite 5 , 5.5, , better (cs 6 , cc versions).
