how to outline a pentagon on coloured background

hi all,

 

i'm looking copy fig.1. far have traced white filled pentagon (fig.2), want white outline of pentagon per fig.1, wondering best way is, dimensions parallel of internal pentagon. have been messing around line tool/additional pentagon layers dimensions seem off- suggestions?

1. magic wand 0 tolerance.  select box (fig 1)

2. select > modify > expand 12 pixels. (fig 2)

3. edit > stroke white 2 pixels (fig 3)

4. select > deselect
