How do I copy the path name from the layers panel to the center of the path/object in my AI file? Is there a native function or some sort of scripting that could be done?

for instance, have map of united states.  each state path , has been named in layers panel.  want generate state name layers panel automatically centered text in each path/state.  each file saved svg once finished.  want to saves me time having manually type each state name in state.

automatically find mathematical middle? i'm sure, that's possible. can see problems every state e.g. louisiana or florida.

 

therefore need find optical middle of paths/states. , more expensive.
