Using the Image Optimization Feature

after selecting preset in image optimization window (shown below) , adjusting quality not navigated save dialog box believe should be.  not given option save changes never, well, saved.  unable increase quality or set preset using window.  ideas on this?

"you can't make silk purse out of sow's ear" holds true in graphics.

upscaling poor quality images introduces unwanted artifacts.

as rule, can't improve image quality , expect results.

dw not graphics editor.  it's web authoring software.

 

best practice nowadays use graphics editor (photoshop) create @1x, @2x , @3x images low, medium , high resolution displays.  begin highest quality native image file can muster.

 

i start 2000px wide, 300 ppi image in ps native file.

i save multiple versions original:

     2,,000px wide @3x

     1,000px wide @2x

       500px wide @1x
