Embedded videos in .swf not playing if using UNC

training department using articulate storyline 2.4 create .swf.

 

if story called \\servername\share\story.html (or .swf) embedded video not play. animation within .swf runs fine.

if story called x:\story.html (or .swf) embedded video plays fine.

 

adobe flash player 19.0.0.207

 

i understand work around map drive letter due security concerns, unable this.

 

does have insight issue or official statement adobe states unc not supported?

you're asking world of pain serving content on unc.  best option stand web server , serve content on http.

 

there bunch of problems we've added security restrictions related url parsing, http , unc come conflict.  whenever we're forced make choice between breaking unc or http, http win.

 

there unfortunate complexities inherent in being secure in environment protocol specs ancient , vague, , browsers inherently forgiving.  in 2015, i'm still amazed @ how time spend looking @ rfcs 1978.  i'd see drop unc support entirely, that's impractical given amount of legacy content in world.  said, continue find instances requires make changes impact unc, , you're saving ton of frustration eliminating design.
