InDesign CS5.5 v7.5 on Win7 won't launch / open

had colleague send me indesign file take at. when opened it, didn't know using idcc , received error message version on id wasn't date , either needed update or of plugins. located 7.5.3 patch-all , ran it. now, if open file directly, regardless of having set file association, windows errors out can't locate correct application open file. if try open id directly, i'll see pointer circle spin 10 seconds , nothing... not id splash screen. see it's running when @ processes grid in windows task manager.

 

note: because unable locate way of unpatching id, uninstalled, deleted leftover directories , files, , reinstalled master suite. same results id, though apps in suite use most, acrobat pro, fireworks, flash, illustrator , photoshop ( both ) opens , works should.

 

any assistance, guidance or appreciated, unsure how proceed here.
