Unable to insert a PDF into MS WORD?

adobe acrobat x pro version 10.1.16 installed. microsoft office professional plus 2010 version 14.0.7145.5000 (64-bit) installed. within last few weeks, unable insert pdf object ms word. here error message, "the program used create object acroexch. program either not installed or computer or not responding. edit object install acroexch or ensure dialogue boxes in acroexch closed." plug-in acroexch not installed adobe acrobat x pro. have read discussions on topic , none of them provide solution. converting pdfs jpegs in order insert them ms word. however, insert pdf without conversion format. how find , install acroexch?

Error: 100600 Update failed, updates have been disabled by your system policy

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
