converting from other apps

i have several issues on mac - converted photos / aperture - nice conversion app but...  nice neat aperture files came in collections.  thinking not idea, laboriously converted them folder structure.

 

1. first question - can access photos photos, aperture, , lightroom.  can't figure out these files kept.  if have 3 (or 2) copies of each photo, eliminate extras , rely on lightroom.

 

2.  decided see folders being access in lightroom.  located in mac file pictures in file structures match in light room (i.e. family subfolders structured in lr).  think made mistake adding pictures folders assuming show in lr - don't.  thinking should imported.  can import folder , pick on ones have not imported?  hard identify looking ones in , aren't.

 

3.  seems no matter how structure folders there (within folder or without) separate file organized date.  assume not duplicate confusing.  there way @ file structure created , eliminate date files?

 

4.  there easier way interact lr on mac?  seems have export photo desktop drag application.

i'm not mac user not best person help, i'll give shot.

the actual structure depends on options chose during conversion. scroll down 'set options' here: http://photofocus.com/2014/12/15/the-essential-guide-to-moving-an-aperture-library-to-adob e-lightroom/

 

it should simple determine if created duplicate copies , ones can delete once understand options chose.

i assume these new camera files have not been edited yet. simplest way set option 'show photos in subfolders' in library menu. next select top-most level pictures folder (named pictures?) inside library module , right-click , select 'synchronize folder.' . "new" image files automatically imported lr , appear in respective folder locations.

if have 'show photos in subfolders' checked  in library menu shows photos in selected folder , of subfolders! try unchecking option in library menu , see if resolves conflict. scroll down 'what file management here: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/ready-move-aperture-iphoto/ again, creation of "duplicates in dated folders" option can selected during aperture conversion.

lr non-destructive editor aperture. original files never "modified" or written lr edits. must use export module or 'edit in' function create edited "copy" of original file use in application. lot's of , tutorials here: learn lightroom, , support | adobe photoshop lightroom 5
