Direct Selection Tool - how to bend path segment?

okay, it's been awhile since used illustrator forgot how title says...

actually solution found in forum (or on youtube?) show handles, because "shift+c" click, hold , drag anchor point problem messes other path segment when want alter or bend/curve other one.

 

now when select direct selection tool and drag away middle of path segment, whole segment moves along it, , other segments connected stretches along too...

what want same reshape tool does in path segment without added anchor point , segment dragged, handles of anchor points on both ends of segment shows up.

Error: 100600 Update failed, updates have been disabled by your system policy

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
