How would one splice/cut an image in illustrator to then allow those splices/cuts to be interactive coordinates in a web page?

hi there, first post , i'm new being member on forum. please go easy on me!

 

i'm novice wannabe web developer , i'm in midst of developing website interesting twist it.

 

the main page centered around 2 origami bird models , want user able interact them. in, if cursor hovers on 1 of origami's folds, function or text reveal in it's place. have spoken lecturer idea , has lead me use adobe illustrator splice origami's paper folds, attach coordinates them, in html , javascript apply rules , functions them, users can interact it.

 

i'm looking insight , links further reading splicing images, coordinates , relating them html , javascript use web development.

is illustrator maybe not right program use idea? photoshop better call?
