Is there a step by step guide for changing backgrounds?

i have spent countless hours , have yet create image of useable quality. can't define edges work properly. have watched several video tutorials when same steps don't same results. guessing there are setups or not showing. think if adobe can create program sophisticated come easier navigation , tool buttons don't need 3 years computer course use it.

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
