Contents and Indexing in InDesign CS6

i creating 200+ page company catalogue , need create contents page , index page it. unfortunately these quite complex , i'm not sure can this.

the text in 'table of contents' needs bespoke, wording not on page i'm directing to, , using index option in cs6 doesn't quite work. index quite complex have application header our product, products listed below. product appear in several places within index under various applications, so, again, contents , index options don't quite work.

what simple: i'd manually create both contents , index list , have formula grabs related page number (automatic) number text box on each page. bit , excel formula ('=' 'cell reference'). away headache of manually changing page numbers in index , contents every time page added.

is such thing possible in indesign cs6?

the table of contents handled adding correct text off top of page(s), text box overlapping bleed. give unique style, , part covered.

for index, way know built-in capabilities go in , add index markers text hand. (each product have several, 1 under each category)
