refine edge (CC) tool erasing edges, not refining

i have scoured internet , watched way many youtube videos, can't seem find solution refine edge tool "bug". have reset photoshop preferences, have uninstalled , reinstalled photoshop, have updated photoshop.

 

basically instead of refining removes areas , erases image. not set erase, on refine radius option e.g. outer hair on cat. images using of high quality , not believe these issue @ all. because no image use works.

 

it happening on laptop , college computer - not other students.  pretty please help!!

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
