Can I use CC on a moblie boot drive to go between desktops.
i take photography , graphics stuff me can work on during downs times @ work. both desktops imacs. not ready switch laptop yet. wondering if clone hd, boot external , install cc there. take hd work , boot external , continue use cc. having laptop.

you can't install creative cloud desktop app on external drive. install creative cloud on both computers , use sync feature access files both computers.
please check faq section of link : download , install adobe creative cloud apps.
although adobe suggests install application on primary drive, possible change installation destination creative cloud app preferences. please note there still shared resources stored on primary drive. in addition, temporary files created on primary drive during installation process. adobe creative cloud desktop app remain on default drive.
file sync:
you can sync files computer creative cloud , access them anywhere. files instantly available on connected devices , computers, , on creative cloud files page. sync files, download , install creative cloud desktop app on computers.
to sync files, 1 of following:
copy, paste, or move files creative cloud files directory or folder on computer.
you can open creative cloud files directory or folder creative cloud desktop app clicking assets tab, files panel, , clicking open folder.
in app, choose file > save or file > save and navigate creative cloud files directory or folder on computer.
the original files on computer or device. files synced via creative cloud connected devices.
you can view files online on creative cloud assets page. once files synced, don't need online, , can view them creative cloud files directory or folder on computer.
