Layer masks, styles, smart filters, etc. not importing properly from PSD

i'm having inconsistencies importing psds ae, both latest cc 2015 . odd part many of smart object , layer group effects (features 'relatively' new such smart filters) importing fine, others not. so, wondering if provide power-user guidelines importing psds ae.

 

the "preparing , importing still images" section on official page (https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/preparing-importing-still-images.html#preparin g_and_importing_photoshop_files), offers general, vague notes on subject. "merge layer styles footage: layer styles merged layer faster rendering, appearance may not match appearance of image in photoshop", wasn't able find concrete criteria on when complex layer grouping, (with masks , layer styles on actual layer group), or smartobjects (with lossless image adjustments , smart filters), imports correctly or not.

 

the 1 thing think observing ae doesn't "layer mask hides effects" check-box in photoshop 'layer style' panel. additional insights on quirks of process appreciated!

long story short: if arrived @ these complications, went far in ps. never bothered of in 15 years of using ae. prefer of in ae - glows , several other effects there better plug-ins , techniques ps' layer styles plus resulting structure of groups converted pre-comps ever makes sense animation. there genuine bugs/ issues smart objects in ps cc 2015, it's not best idea use workflow. in case, less complicated psd file, more succeed in ae. rasterize whatever can , if use sos import native files directly in ae , adjust them there. same smart filters , have - use whatever comes ae, not use ps.

Error: 100600 Update failed, updates have been disabled by your system policy

just installed acrobat 11.0.13 on windows 7 sp 1 ultimate 64-bit machine.  when try run, > check updates, error below.  happening on several machines.  in domain group policy not restrict updates.  have tried running acrobat "run administrator" , have tried running update service administrator.  no luck.     common acrobat nonsense, there not policy acrobat !!! just missing unnecessary adobe arm !!! this time when see stupid error message installer, not install updater as  !!! but avoid annoying offer update usefulness acrobat dc (ok adobe give try, respect effort, no more reader (sorry adobe !!!) remove complete adobe arm folder, acrobat not need , loose nothing of functionality !!! however paid acrobat xi pro , not need degradation it  dc !!!
