upgrading to pse 14 but I don't want to lose file structure or metadata within pse 11

i'm considering upgrading pse11 pse14.  plan buy normal version via amazon rather upgrade because full version cheaper.  however, don't want lose file/folder structure , metadata (for photos i've forgotten save metadata files- i'm not sure ones these are).  best way replace pse 11 pse14 without doing damage or losing info, please?

nothing special do.

if install pse14 on same computer, file/folder structure won't altered @ all: catalogs not contain files, links location.

in installation process, prompted 'convert' current version 11 catalog 14 format. new catalog created same name before, kept, tags, captions etc.

you don't need write metadata files: information version 11 catalogs kept.

 

two different situations:

- install pse14 in computer: use backup/restore process: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/backup-restore-move-catalog-photoshop.html

- old catalogs no longer available, picture files: re-import files, , yes, if have not written metadata files, can't recover them. if have written them, can recover tags, ratings, notes , captions, not stacks, version sets or creations.

 

side note: if don't know files missing 'written metadata', can select , issue command again. needs patience.
